Help-to-Claim Adviser

Salary: LA SPC 12 £22,183 per annum with a 6% employer pension contribution
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Initial start will be Work from Home. Main Office based in Hinckley. Project offices are across Leicestershire and Leicester City (travel will be involved)
Contract: Fixed term to 31st March 2021(Possibility of continuation subject to funding and performance)
Line manager: Project Leader

Citizens Advice LeicesterShire wants to recruit a hard-working Help-to-Claim Adviser who will efficiently assist clients to make a claim for Universal Credit, and provide help and support until their first full payment of Universal Credit. This role requires someone to work as part of a team and provide an effective service for first time Universal Credit claimants in Leicester City and Leicestershire. The service, which includes advice, information and digital support, will be delivered initially by telephone and digital/web chat channels although there is an expectation that we will resume some face-to-face work in the future.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented adviser who can engage with clients to assess individual support needs and determine the level of service most appropriate for each client.

  • You will support and assist clients to access appropriate websites and identify relevant forms and self-help information. You will also access relevant information required for making a claim and develop the skills and confidence needed to access digital services.
  • You will assist with research and campaigning work by providing information about clients’ circumstances through the appropriate channel and contribute to both local and national campaigns where appropriate.
  • You will maintain case records for the purpose of continuity, information retrieval, and to ensure that advice standards meet Citizens Advice QAA requirements, follow up emails or calls where appropriate and maintain a record of calls taken.
  • You will always uphold the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service and its equal opportunities policies.
