Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is currently operating a remote service to our clients over the phone and via email, and will soon be offering virtual face-to-face appointments through the Attend Anywhere platform. Clients contact us through Adviceline (our Citizens Advice telephony system) and our Assessors then establish what help the client needs and the most suitable next steps for them. Our Volunteers are all currently carrying out their roles remotely from home – covering Adviceline, answering emails and doing call back appointments with clients.
We are looking for volunteers who are able to communicate well by telephone, and have a suitable space to work at home. Full training and support will be given to successful applicants and real-time online/phone access to experienced supervisors is available to all Volunteers whilst they are working on Adviceline. Although you will be carrying out your duties remotely, you will be part of a wider team with opportunities for socialising, support and personal development available through a variety of channels.
Training will be completed remotely as a mixture of self-study on our training system, webinars and Googlemeet workshop sessions with the training team.
After you have finished your training and gained some experience as an Assessor, you may choose to undertake further training for roles such as Adviser, Form Filling Assistant and Research and Campaigns Officer.
We need applicants to commit to volunteering for at least 9 hours per week, for a minimum 6 months, but many of our volunteers find volunteering with Citizens Advice to be such a rewarding experience that they stay with us for year after year
