19 June 2017: Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is holding Open Day for new volunteers on 27 June

Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is holding a Open Day for new volunteers on Tuesday 27 June 2.30 – 4pm.

This is an opportunity for people who might be interested in volunteering to visit the office, meet the team and find out more about what it is like to volunteer with Citizens Advice LeicesterShire.

Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is a registered charity providing free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to help people to overcome their problems. We are a voice for our clients and consumers on the issues that matter to them. We’re here for everyone.

Our volunteers give information and advice on a wide range of real life issues such as employment, debt, benefits, housing and discrimination, in person and over the phone.

No experience is necessary, as full training is provided, with regular support and supervision provided throughout the training period and afterwards. Volunteering is a great way to build on existing experience and to learn new skills, especially for people seeking permanent work.

One former volunteer, who is now in paid employment, said:

“My time as a volunteer allowed me to build my confidence and interact with new people, as well as gain experience that helped me to find work in a new sector.

“Being part of service that helps people with the problems they face was also very rewarding.”

The Volunteer Open Day is taking place on 27 June 2017, 2.30pm – 4.00pm at our City office: 3rd Floor, 60 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FB.
