10 April 2017: Blaby residents saved up to £515 on their energy bills during first Citizens Advice LeicesterShire Roadshow
During March, Citizens Advice LeicesterShire ran four Switch and Save Roadshows across Blaby district.
Blaby residents who attended the Roadshow discovered that they could save an average of £200 per year by switching their energy supplier. Two residents could make even larger savings, of £365 and £515 per year.
Tony Wells, Service Leader of Citizens Advice LeicesterShire, Harborough and Blaby Districts, said:
“Savings of this size are not uncommon. It is important for people to regularly shop around for the best deal on energy, as they could save money.
“At the moment, people who do not have access to the internet can lose out by not finding the best deals.
“We also look at broader issues around energy saving, such as smart meters and insulation, or the Warm Home Discount that people on certain benefits or low incomes can apply for.
“We have found from talking to people that come to our Switch and Save Roadshows that some are not claiming the benefits that they are entitled to.
“A brilliant plus to doing these events is that we have been able to reach more people by going out into the community. We are looking forward to the next set of Roadshow events in Harborough later this year.”
