We’re looking for people to join our Trustee Board to help us create a fairer society as we empower people with knowledge to improve their lives. If you want to make a difference in your community, we would love to hear from you.
Who we are
Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is an independent charity and member of the Citizens Advice network. We give free, impartial and confidential advice, helping people with a variety of issues including benefits, housing and debt. Our advocacy also helps create a fairer society through campaigning on behalf of those who rely on us.
We are here for everyone. Whatever the problem and regardless of someone’s background, we are here to help.
During 2023/24, we helped 31,171 people with 82,339 issues. We increased their annual income by £14,976,876 and helped write off a total of £1,330,650 worth of debt.
Why we need you
Our trustee board is made of up to 12 volunteers. We would love to hear from people who can bring a wide range of skills, knowledge and local insight as we further develop the organisation.
Collaborating with our CEO, our trustees are responsible for setting our overall strategy and budget.
What we ask from you
We welcome people with a range of different skill sets and aren’t looking for specific qualifications, but we need people with the following qualities:
- Accepting of different backgrounds, values and cultures
- Good communication and numeracy skills
- Willing to learn and undertake training
- Commitment and passion for our purpose and values
- Ability to work effectively in a team
In terms of commitment, we meet with our Trustees in the evening every two months for 2.5 hours. We also expect you to find time to prepare for meetings and read board papers.
