Leicestershire Energy Advice Service: Citizens Advice LeicesterShire expands energy services to Leicester city with support of Energy Saving Trust
Citizens Advice LeicesterShire has received funding of £164,919 from Energy Saving Trust to support households and individuals across Leicester and Leicestershire with energy advice for a further two years.
Michelle Hernandez is Citizens Advice LeicesterShire’s Energy Adviser. She explains: “We provide support with managing energy bills, energy saving tips and can help you check you’re on the best tariff. Our aim is to reduce stress and empower clients with the confidence to deal with energy issues.”
“We’re here for anyone worried about increasing energy bills, however, most people who seek our help are vulnerable – for example, people over 65 and disabled people. Many of our clients are at risk or experiencing fuel poverty. “
The expansion of the energy project means that the service will mean that clients living in the city are also able to benefit from tailored advice and support.
Vicky Gutteridge, Chief Executive Officer at Citizens Advice LeicesterShire says: “Given the success of Leicester Energy Support in Leicestershire since 2023, we’re delighted to be able to continue offering that same support, and to expand to help city residents too.
We know in Leicester and Leicestershire there is a growing number of people who are worried about how they are going to pay for their rising energy bills and the continuing cost of living crisis is pushing more people into financial hardship. It’s really important to reach those struggling and our energy service is a key way that we are able to help people with advice.”
