Sarah Humphreys answers questions about what she loves about being a part of Citizens Advice LeicesterShire and her role as a Trustee.

Sarah has an entrepreneurial background with 27 years as the founder and owner of multiple businesses. Currently working at the Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, she specialises in business development strategies, translating strategic goals into actionable sales and marketing plans that foster sustainable, long-term success.

Q: What attracted you to becoming a Trustee at Citizens Advice LeicesterShire?

A: I was initially drawn to becoming a trustee at Citizens Advice LeicesterShire because I didn’t realise they were a charity. Knowing about the incredible work they do in our local communities motivated me to see how I could help support their continued success and longevity as an organisation.

Q: What do you enjoy about being a Trustee?

A: I have previously done voluntary work because I enjoy using my skills and knowledge to help organisations. Serving as a trustee and working as part of a team allows me to contribute to the ripple effect that helps communities thrive. It’s also an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, share skills and experiences, and make a larger impact in our communities.

Q: What does your role involve?

A: It involves a small amount of my time, which I am more than happy to dedicate to attending board meetings and supporting the charity with my experience and knowledge on projects.

Q: What have you learned during your time at Citizens Advice LeicesterShire?

A: Citizens Advice Leicestershire provides a broad range of free advice, addressing issues from consumer rights to debt management. Understanding the challenges many individuals face in paying their household bills, such as fuel and council tax, inspires me to contribute to the positive impact this service has in the region, helping communities thrive.

Q: What would you say to someone who is thinking about applying?

A: If you find it rewarding to be part of a team that makes a difference in people’s lives within your community, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. If you have knowledge, skills, and lived experience and are eager to use them to support a fantastic charity, we encourage you to apply.
