Community Spirit at the Leicester Information & Advice Fair 2025

The Leicester Information and Advice Fair was a great opportunity for likeminded organisations to get together and reach out to our local communities.

Last weekend, our brilliant staff members and volunteers attended the Leicester Information and Advice Fair in Jubilee Square to raise awareness for our advice services that helped over 16,000 people last year.

Our team talked to local residents about our services, made connections with other charities and had valuable conversations with council members, including assistant mayors Vi Dempster and Mohammed Dawood (pictured below).

Our Head of Income & Partnerships, Melissa March, also took to the stage to talk about some of the issues our clients face. She explained that we’re seeing significant rises in demand in three key areas: debt, complex housing issues and energy bills.

“I think that reflects a lot of the energy price hikes and other challenges in the energy market.

These are all issues that our advisers – our specialist, trained, brilliant teams of advisers – are able to help you with.”

You can watch her in action on our Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Linkedin pages.

The event also provided an amazing opportunity to listen to local residents about the problems they’re facing. We’re always striving to make our services as accessible, inclusive and relevant as possible, so hearing from our clients firsthand was invaluable.

Many of the conversations reflected the trends that Melissa pointed out as struggling with energy bills was a common theme. These interactions showed that there is a significant increase in demand for our service as more and more people cannot make ends meet.

Despite the increasingly complex issues and challenges facing people across Leicester, the festival highlighted the strength and solidarity of people in our community, coming together to find solutions and support.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and to Leicester City Council for organising a fantastic event! We look forward to working with our partners at the city council to find more ways to reach out to the local community and services for our clients.
