Who We are:
Citizens Advice LeicesterShire is an independent and local non-profit organisation. Our purpose is “Sharing knowledge to transform lives”. By listening to the needs of our communities and clients, we act to provide accessible, high-quality information, advice and education to anyone who needs it. We empower individuals with the tools and support they need to build resilience and thrive. By working in partnership with national and local organisations, we’re able to advocate for a fairer society, amplifying the voices of those often unheard. We demonstrate and uphold our values: we care, we help, we excel and we challenge to achieve positive outcomes for the people we help. Last year we supported over 14,457 people across Leicester and Leicestershire with 72,587 issues, gaining an overall income of £12.4m.
About the role:
The infected blood scandal has had a devastating, lifelong impact on thousands of people. For those affected in the East Midlands, we are looking for a compassionate and resilient individual to act as their trusted guide and advocate.
As a Regional Navigator, your job is to chart a course for people through incredibly complex challenges. You will be their single, consistent point of contact, helping them navigate a system that can be overwhelming.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Giving practical advice on issues such as welfare benefits and housing.
- Working with our specialist multidisciplinary team to coordinate people’s care.
- Helping to set up peer support groups, so people affected can connect with each other.
- Picking up new referrals and getting to know each person’s circumstances.
- Supporting people by phone, video and email.
- Reaching out to communities who are less likely to access support.
- Speaking up for people with other organisations, such as housing providers, employers and benefit services.
About you:
This role requires a combination of heart and head. You might be the right person if:
- You are an exceptional listener, able to communicate with deep empathy and patience, especially when discussing sensitive and traumatic experiences.
- You are a natural problem-solver, able to research and understand complex information to find practical, real-world solutions for people.
- You are emotionally resilient, with the ability to manage difficult conversations and be a calm, steady presence for people in distress.
- You have experience working with vulnerable people, perhaps in a healthcare, social care or advice setting.
Why work with us?
We’re more than just a workplace; we’re a community dedicated to helping people navigate the path from frustration and despair towards hope and empowerment.
To ensure you’re equipped for this important work, we invest in your growth, providing ongoing training and development opportunities to help you reach your full potential. You’ll work alongside a talented team that values collaboration, innovation and the unique perspectives you bring.
At Citizens Advice LeicesterShire, your work will have a direct impact on our community. We’ll encourage you to share your ideas and embrace challenges, fostering an environment where your contributions make a real difference.
With our refreshed purpose, values and strategy, now is the perfect time to join our collaborative team and help shape the future of our organisation.
