Job Description

Gather learning and draw insight on how Universal Credit and Help to Claim is working across a Jobcentre district. 

Work with other Best Practice Leads to develop an approach to sharing this learning with relevant partners including Jobcentres, local Citizens Advice and national Citizens Advice.

Develop strong local relationships with relevant stakeholders including local Citizens Advice, Jobcentres, advice agencies and other voluntary sectors organisations.

Key work areas and tasks:

  • Information gathering and feedback
  • Sharing best practice through written reports and presentations
  • Develop and build upon stakeholder relationships
  • Contribute to the development of the Best Practice Lead network

Responsible to: Macmillan Welfare Benefits Service Leader
Location: Primarily Leicester City Centre with remote-working required from start

Job description
Providing administrative support to the Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advice Service, you will ensure that all enquiries receive a sympathetic and professional welcome to the service. You will support the Macmillan project with initial triage and referral to other services where appropriate, appointment booking, data entry, writing statistical reports, monitoring, and other administrative duties.

Key work areas and tasks:

  • Taking referrals, booking appointments, and dealing with general enquiries to the service via telephone and email.
  • Liaising with medical professionals to obtain further information or evidence for referrals
  • Referring clients onto colleagues or other agencies as appropriate for specialist help.
  • Assisting Caseworkers in managing their administration including management of caseworker diaries to help facilitate both Adviser and Caseworker elements of their roles.
  • Assisting with the advertisement and publicising of the service.
  • Using IT for statistical recording, record keeping and document production. Creating and maintaining filing systems in accordance with organisation systems and procedures.
  • Open, record and distribute incoming post, and prepare outgoing mail for posting.
  • Maintenance of stock and ordering stationery supplies.
  • Minute meetings as and when required.
