Volunteer Training Mentor
Minimum time commitment per week: 7 hours
Training commitment: 7 hours per week initial training, over a 3 month period
Location: You should be able to access one of the following offices: Leicester City (9am – 1pm, Monday – Friday), Hinckley, Coalville, Blaby (these can be discussed at the interview)
The Volunteer Trainee Mentor plays a key role in supporting volunteers through their training journey, helping them to feel confident, supported, and well-prepared for their roles. You will be a friendly and reliable point of contact, working closely with the training team to ensure a positive, inclusive, and effective volunteer experience from induction through to completion of training and competency assessment or advice provision.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the training and development of volunteers throughout their volunteering journey
- Act as a main point of contact for volunteers, particularly new starters, offering guidance and reassurance
- Help ensure a smooth and positive experience from induction through to completion of training and assessment
- Work closely with the training team to support the development of assessors and advisers
- Identify development needs with volunteers and, where appropriate, discuss next steps or alternative volunteer roles
- Support volunteers to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence required for their role
- Provide timely, constructive, and sensitive feedback in line with guidance from the training team
- Use appropriate systems and tools to record, track, and monitor volunteer progress accurately

Training
Training for this role is made up of:
5 x 3 hour workshops
9 hours Induction self study
6 hour role specific self study
